Gerald Rooney, President of the Whitfield-Manjiro Friendship Society,
will share images and the story of the daring rescue of a shipwrecked
14-year-old Japanese boy, Manjiro Nakahama, by Captain William Whitfield
and the Whaleship John Howland, the enduring friendship that developed
and its impact on history.
